Alex Ahlstrom was born to a loving family in San Antonio, Texas. He discovered an affinity for computer programming and travel in high school and attended college at the University of Redlands in Los Angeles, California. Seeing a future opportunity, Alex challenged himself to learn Mandarin and studied abroad in Beijing from September 2006 to September 2007. Upon graduation, Alex had the best Mandarin in his graduating class and returned to Beijing just in time for the 2008 Olympics. Alex worked as the only foreigner in several Chinese companies and as an extrovert found great enjoyment being at the center of high-level meetings because of his language skills. Alex started working with large real estate developers and cooperating with government officials in China and America. Investment projects grew in size from office fit-outs to houses, then assisted living facilities, mixed-use projects, and even world-class hotels.
Alex was a SCUBA instructor, water polo captain and swim instructor who finds adventure in everyday life in Asia. Hobbies include learning traditional Chinese characters when in Hong Kong, keeping abreast of the latest marketing techniques and technology, and playing water polo.
